Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PG CET) 2011

For Admission to Ist Year/Ist Semester MBA/MCA/M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA (Infrastructure Management) Courses.

Applications are invited from eligible and interested candidates for appearing in the PGCET 2011 Entrance Exam to be conducted in the month of August. All courses offered under PGCET 2011 is for both part time and full time (Except MCA where only Full time course is available).

Non-Karnataka candidates appearing for PGCET – 2011 are eligible for those seats available against the management quota of private professional institutions, in such cases where the institutions have surrendered their quota of seats to CPAC.

Note: The candidates with valid GATE score need not appear for PGCET-2011 for admission to M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA (Infrastructure Management) Courses, but they have to procure and submit the filled application form for admission.

Academic Eligibility:

a) MBA:

Full Time: A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination of minimum of 3 years or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects for all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% marks in Q.E. in case of SC/ST and Category-I candidates.

Part Time: A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination of minimum of 3 years or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects for all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% marks in Q.E. in case of SC/ST and Category-I candidates. Those who are applying for part time course should have work experience of at least 3 years & must be working in a organization which is not more than 40 kms from the institution, he / she is planning to take admission.

b) MCA: The candidate must have passed the Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% (45% marks for SC / ST category candidates) aggregate marks in all the years of degree examinations with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Programming or computer application or Business Mathematics or Business statistics as one of the optional or elective at degree level.

How to Apply:

i. The application can be obtained on payment of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- in case of Karnataka SC/ ST and Cat-I, on production of documentary proof) in the form of DD only, drawn in favour of the
“Executive Director, Karnataka Examination Authority“, payable at Bangalore.

ii. Prepare or Buy cloth-lined envelop of size 25cm X 30cm and write your address.

iii. Keep the self addressed envelop and DD in a cover. On the top of the cover Write
“Request for PGCET – 2011 brochure for _________________ course (Fill the gap with your desired course MBA/MCA/M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA Infrastructure Management etc)

iv. The last date for submission of DD to KEA to obtain broucher cum application form is 25-6-2011 5pm.

v. The written test will be conducted for MBA course between 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM and for MCA course between 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM on 11-8-2011 (Sunday) at various centers as specified in Brochure supplied with the application form.

KARNATAKA PGCET Exam Pattern:

MBA – There will be 120 questions in the exam. The total time allotted will be 2 hrs. There will be 20 questions on Language Comprehension, 30 on Mathematical skills, 30 on Data Analysis & sufficiency, 30 questions on Intelligence & Critical reasoning and 10 questions on Indian Global Environment.

MCA – The exam will be of 2 hrs. There will be 90 questions in this. The division of questions will be as follows – 20 on mathematics, 20 on analytical ability, 15 on logical reasoning, 15 on comprehensive verbal ability & 20 questions will be on general awareness on computer science.
